What in Heaven: Astrological CosmologiesLiz Greene
The Centre for Psychological AstrologyThis seminar will explore the many different religious ideas about the cosmos and the roles astrology has played in these cosmologies in Western esoteric thought. Modern astrologers are often unaware of their own cosmological and religious perspectives, focusing instead on the hands-on interpretation of the chart, but implicit beliefs and assumptions about the nature of deity and the unity or plurality of the cosmos influence the manner in which the chart is read and the emphasis or lack of emphasis given to moral and spiritual development as well as prediction of events. We will examine various astrological-religious cosmologies from the ancient world through the revival of astrology in the late 19th century to the contemporary astrological scene, and the intimate relationship between religious beliefs, psychological perspectives, and the ways in which astrologers interpret the horoscope. Although this seminar will include considerable historical material, it is relevant to anyone wishing to understand the background to their mode of astrological interpretation and the various religious and philosophical traditions to which their individual astrology belongs. All one day seminars start at 10.30am and finish between 4.30pm and 5pm. They cost £50.00 and are held at: Regents College, Inner Circle, Regents Park, London NW1. Nearest tube: Baker Street. Bookings: The Centre for Psychological Astrology, BCM Box 1815, London, WC1N 3XX, England. Telephone/Fax: +44-20-8749 2330. Email:

Going Backwards to Go Forward: Retrograde planets Lynn Bell The Centre for Psychological AstrologyRetrograde planets push us in a counter direction to the world around us, they create an odd arrhythmia, a subtle disconnect with the planet's energy. What are the gifts and disadvantages of a retrograde planet in the birth chart? There are many phases to the retrograde cycle of the inner planets; each one shifts our relationship to the whole. We may have just a piece of the retrograde, or a large view of the whole process. These planets are associated with the voyage to the underworld, with descent and return, rising up in a new direction, with a changed perspective. We also experience them in the everyday sky. Significant shifts happen when retrogrades come into our life through progression, signalling a long underground process within the psyche. Bring charts and a photocopy of the ephemeris page for the month of your birth and the two months that follow. Email:

The Hero and the Fool - The Sun and Mercury in the horoscopeJohn Green
The Centre for Psychological AstrologyToday we’ll be looking at the Sun and his relationship with Mercury. First impressions of astrology usually look at the Sun’s dominance over the chart but what is its true function and role? Is it the Managing Director of our chart or lost within its own complexes? Is Mercury really just the Sun’s messenger or does it have a deeper and far more significant role to play as companion to the Sun? Using mythology and fictional characters we’ll look at how to understand our own hero’s journey in our chart and if it can tell us who we really are and where we are going All one day seminars start at 10.30am and finish between 4.30pm and 5pm. They cost £50.00 and are held at: Regents College, Inner Circle, Regents Park, London NW1. Nearest tube: Baker Street. The Shadow: Darkness and Light in the Horoscope Liz Greene
The Centre for Psychological Astrology Jung’s seminal concept of the shadow – the unconscious dimension of individual personality – stands at the core of his psychotherapeutic approach, and it is also highly relevant to the ways in which birth chart and progressed configurations are expressed and the ability of the individual to make full use of the potentials reflected in the horoscope. While concepts such as ‘shadow’ and ‘projection’ are often misused and abused, a grasp of the dynamics of that realm Jung calls ‘shadow’ is essential to an understanding of why some people seem to express a particular aspect or planetary placement creatively while others seem unable to access the aspect or can only experience or express it in a destructive way. This seminar will explore the interface between psychological dynamics and the configurations of the birth chart, with emphasis on what lies in the darkness, what lies in the light, and the ways in which the balance shifts and changes through life according to individual consciousness and the various transits and progressed aspects that reflect shifts and changes in the unfolding of the personality. Email:

The Art and Craft of Chart InterpretationClare Martin The Centre for Psychological AstrologyIn this practical workshop style seminar, we will focus on the craft and ritual of horoscope analysis. We enter unknown territory whenever we work on a chart, and our approach and attitude are important if we wish to enter into a dialogue with the living cosmos. We will discuss ways of developing a methodical, analytical approach to chart analysis, not simply for its own sake but as a way of evoking a dialogue with the planetary deities. We will work to extract the major themes, myths and stories, identify where the current emphases lie, and consider how best to convey the chart’s themes to our clients. Two charts from the group will be used, so if you would like to offer your own chart for detailed analysis and interpretation please contact me by 15th May on

It’s ruler, aspects to it and planets in the 9th give fascinating insights into the nature of your Soul’s Purpose for incarnation and what you have come to heal. Synastry And Composites: When And How To Use These Tools For Navigating RelationshipsDarby Costello
The Centre for Psychological AstrologyIn today’s secular world we seem to honour neither the divinity of love nor the work that is necessary to keep it alive and flourishing. With Uranus going into Mars-ruled Aries opposing Saturn in Venus-ruled Libra, it would be wise to pay particular attention to our Venus impulses, lest we lose the very grace that nourishes our lives. This seminar will look at synastry and composites and the current significant transits that challenge and awaken our willingness to address the nature of the work of love. All one day seminars start at 10.30am and finish between 4.30pm and 5pm. They cost £50.00 and are held at: Regents College, Inner Circle, Regents Park, London NW1. Nearest tube: Baker Street.
