Experiental Astrology
Babs Kirby
A new addition to the Urania Trust books. The colourful nature of the
cover permeates right into the contents of this most practical and useful
self-help book. To begin with the book is truly experiental, and no
head-tripping cerebral ordeal. The treatment is thorough yet very light,
underpinned as one would expect by Babs’ deep working knowledge of
astrological symbolism. The book begins with a very useful exploration of the
territory of guided imagery and experiential astrology. There’s helpful
advice for beginners, practical advice before undertaking a journey and then
charts of 8 sample volunteers.
The following chapters devote themselves to the actual journeys, from Sun
through to Pluto. After supplying the essential symbolic and astrological core
of the planetary symbol, each planet’s "journey text" is given in
full. Guidelines are offered for interpretation. Babs’ own suggestions as to
the astrological significators being constellated provide great insights into
the astrological process which is where Babs’ years of experience really
score. All solid stuff, clearly experienced at gut level by the volunteers and
now made available for us all to benefit from their experiences. (Taken from a
review by Robin Heath in The Astrological Journal, vol 41, no 6.)

Astrology and Kabbalah
Z'ev ben Shimon Halevi
The Urania Trust's latest publication is a completely revised edition of
"The Anatomy of Fate" which has been long out of print. Astrology
and Kabbalah addresses the themes of cosmology, the soul's evolution, the
purpose of life and our individual place in it. This is done with great
precision through a synthesis of the disciplines of Kabbalah, astrology and
psychology, and the book draws in many other areas of knowledge such as
science, sacred architecture, cultural history and philosophy. Kabbalah is
the ancient tradition of revealed mystical knowledge as given to Abram by
Melchizedek, mentioned in the Bible, and transmitted down over generations,
combining other influences up to the present time. The Kabbalah
features an elegant metaphysical diagram, the well-known Tree of Life, with
its structured exposition of creation on various levels. The basic
principles of Kabbalah are set out clearly in this book which is also graced
with many diagrams, so that the reader is not left flipping through endless
pages to find information.

Cosmic Loom
Dennis Elwell
The Urania Trust's publications include a completely revised and much
enlarged edition of Cosmic Loom, first published by Unwin Hyman in 1987, and
long out of print. A completely new final chapter has been added, proposing
a different course for astrology in the century ahead. Unsuspected in a
materialistic age, behind the world of appearances powerful spiritual laws are
at work, and an enlightened astrology is the only way to detect their presence
and understand their effects. It means that astrology has misinterpreted its
true role. To illustrate his thesis, the author considers the death of Diana,
Princess of Wales, the Dunblane school massacre, and the sinking of the Titanic.
This latest edition also includes a controversial discussion of horary astrology,
and the results of objective research on the influence of Chiron, which
strikingly differ from the mythology-based opinions currently in vogue.

The New Study of Astrology
John Addey
This long awaited, posthumous work by one of the most important and distinguished pioneers in the history of astrology, will rekindle an enthusiasm for an astrological research which is based jointly on an understanding of philosophical principles and at the same time on a wealth of carefully analysed empirical results. As the culmination of Addey's life work in astrology, it offers the discerning student a coherent exposition of his harmonic theory and a challenging picture of the kind of way in which astrology seems to work, and why it is, as the author argues so persuasively, that astrology "from being an outcast from the fraternity of sciences, seems destined to assume an almost central role in scientific thought". This is an enormously exciting and stimulating work which builds on the author's earlier classic, Harmonics in Astrology. It offers a wealth of insights about the nature of astrology and its place in the wider world. In it Addey demonstrates how harmonic theory and principles can be used not only to clarify and elucidate the research of the Gauquelins, but to give a systematic account of the principles on which a wider and more integral astrology can be developed.

The Tenacious Mars Effect
S. Ertel & K. Irving
Is there a connection between planetary positions at the time of our birth, and our future personality and career? Controversy has surrounded the work of the Gauquelins ever since their results began to be published in 1956. These showed that, whilst they could find no evidence for some areas of astrology, there was powerful evidence for a planetary effect. This book is a powerful collaboration between an eminent German psychologist, a leading American astrologer and an impartial sceptic. It provides compelling evidence that after forty years of scrutiny and three failed attempts to discredit the Gauquelins' work, it is time for the scientific community to take on board the reality of the Gauquelin Effect and really consider its implications.

The Eureka Effect
N. Kollerstrom & M. O'Neill
Eureka! This pioneering work examines the astrology of moments that have changed the course of history. It studies the timing of the `flash of
inspiration' in the lives of scientists and shows that the planetary pictures of such Eureka moments and individuals conform to the type of patterns predicted by the harmonic theory of John Addey. These beautifully conceived studies provide the first clear evidence for the astrological aspects and offer the basis for identifying future times which may be conducive to inspiration and creativity. This book will prove an inspiration to all astrologers and astrological researchers.

The Spindle of Meaning
Ronald Harvey
In a world of ever increasing compartmentalised thinking and specialisation, we need new models and tools for thought which can help us explore the deeper nature of reality and the underlying unity of the rational and the irrational, of conscious and unconscious, of cosmos and psyche. This book shows that, whilst ignored and derided because of its presumed illogical origins, the kind of astrology which helped Kepler, Galileo, Copernicus and Tycho Brahe formulate their cosmological theories can provide just such a remarkable tool for unified intellectual exploration. Embodying in its flexible yet systematic symbolic language both reason and imagination, astrology, as lucidly presented by Ronald Harvey, shows itself to be an immensely powerful heuristic instrument, and a richly fertile symbolic system for discovery across the spectrum of human endeavour.

The Astrology of Time Twins
Peter Roberts & Helen Greengrass
Do people born close together in time share the same character and destiny? Since Dane Rudhyar in 1935 suggested that the primary research tool for astrologers should be the study of unrelated people born close together in time, or "time twins" little has been done to explore this basic area of
research. Now in this powerful pioneering study Peter Roberts, Professor of Systems Science at City University London, joins forces with consultant astrologer Helen Greengrass to present the systematic study of groups of time twins born on 6 different dates. Time twins were collected through appeals on radio, in the Radio Times and from articles in the press. The samples studied were: 16 people born on 9 Dec 1934; 21 people born on 21 Feb 1937; 33 people born 14 Nov 1948; 17 people born on 18 July 1950; 23 people born on 29 Aug 1958, and 18 people born on 1 May 1964. The twins not only responded to various questionnaires but some of them were personally interviewed. This invaluable presentation of their findings also includes a wealth of background about research methods. The study shows both the fascinating parallels and similarities that there can be between people born close together in time and the wide range of expression possible from the same basic chart patterns. This is a book which will prove of great value for everyone undertaking astrological research and which will provide much food for thought for students of astrology at every level.
